This tour is a deep dive into the authentic flavors and hidden corners of Puglia, combining cooking, culture, and coastline in one unforgettable experience.

Upon arrival in Mottola, you settle in and immediately begin to breathe the rhythm of the region, with a traditional Pugliese welcome dinner that sets the tone. From there you roll up your sleeves to make pesto in Alberobello, tour cheese workshops to craft mozzarella and ricotta, try your hand at making tomato salsa, panzerotti, focaccia, biscotti, and even infused oils, each class bringing you closer to the local heart.
Along the way you’ll visit iconic places: Alberobello and its trulli, Polignano a Mare’s seaside beauty, the inspiring caves of Castellana, Taranto’s archaeological ruins and shops, and Bari’s historic old city. Evenings end with food, stories, laughter: a chance to taste deeply, learn hands-on, and return home with more than photos, but real memories, skills, and pride in having lived Puglia, not just visited it.

With MagicItaly you get guides who know the land, ingredients, and traditions; kitchens where recipes are rooted in centuries; places off the beaten track yet full of character. This is a tour you will remember, not just for the sights, but for the meals, textures, smells, and the people behind them.

Trip Overview

Puglia is often described by travel experts as one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, a place where landscape, history, tradition and gastronomy blend in rare harmony. UNESCO has recognised some of Puglia’s most iconic sites: The Trulli of Alberobello stand as one of the finest examples of rural architecture in the world, with more than 1,500 cone-shaped trulli clustered together, many still in active use as homes, shops, restaurants and even hotels. Castel del Monte, built in the 13th century by Frederick II, with its perfect octagonal shape, sits atop a hill overlooking olive groves and wild lands, a marvel of medieval architecture celebrated for its elegance and mystery.

In Puglia the sun, the sea, the stone, and the soil combine. It is the land of ancient olive trees, vineyards, orchards, rustic breads baked in wood ovens, cheeses made in artisanal dairies, and recipes passed down through generations. Towns like Bari, Taranto and Alberobello are not just places to see, but places to taste, touch, hear old traditions, meet people who still cook like their grandparents. Polignano a Mare offers postcard-perfect coastline and promontories over the Adriatic. Castellana’s caves (Grotte di Castellana) grant you a glimpse into geological time, formations of stalactites, stalagmites, vast chambers that leave many visitors breathless.

This tour lets you live all of that. You arrive in Mottola, enjoy the warm welcome, cook pesto in Alberobello, make mozzarella and ricotta, shape panzerotti and focaccia, learn about infused oils, stroll Polignano a Mare, Porto Bari, Taranto, relax on beaches, explore caves. The region’s beauty will be part of every meal, every lesson, every sunset you witness. If you choose this tour, you come away not just having visited Puglia, but knowing it. You return home with stories of flavour-filled classes, salty air, ancient walls, and the pride of having journeyed through one of Italy’s most treasured and authentic regions.
